The tumultuous 2021 election cycle has finally come to an end, with Ugandan’s casting their vote on Thursday, across the East African nation. Despite an energetic campaign decrying corruption and political violence, Robert Kyagulanyi, more commonly known by his stage name ‘Bobi Wine’, fell short of emerging victorious. Results obtained Saturday show Museveni, the candidate for the National Resistance Movement (NRM), with 58.64% of the vote. Enough to avoid a runoff election yet a marginal drop of 1.98% compared to his 2016 performance. Wine finished second, with 34.83%.
